About Me

Seems a little pretentious, doesn’t it? My name is Michael Wegner, and I write (wait for it…) books! Didn’t see that one coming, did you? You can find descriptions of my books on the Books page. And you can find some bloggy stuff on the Bloggy Stuff page. Where else would you put bloggy stuff?
Yes, I was serious once, but I got better. Everyone needs a laugh now and then; it makes the day better. Go read something fun, smile, and pass it on!
Why I Write
I traveled the world while serving in the United States Air Force until I retired in 1993. After retirement, I learned computer networking, and eventually worked my way to being the IT security officer for a regional hospital. I just retired from that a few years ago.
Until now, I had been pretty busy getting married, working, raising kids… Then suddenly, I was retired and had a garden, chickens, and a few cats that we had adopted to look after. My wife said, “Husband of mine, go forth and write,” which was her way of saying, “Get out of my hair!” I had done some writing while working as a security officer. Still, I’m talking short emails and training materials, certainly not books. But hey, why not give it a shot, right?
Seriously
And there’s another, more serious reason. These books are different. They’re fun, entertaining, and not rated for adults only. Anyone can read and enjoy them, unlike some recent books and movies.
Which books and movies? I don’t want to use names here… Ok, actually, I do, but I won’t. But remember the British secret agent guy? There was humor and not a lot of dark drama. There was drama, to be sure, but it wasn’t dark. They had cool underwater hangouts, nifty gadgets, and funny jokes. That changed along the way and now it’s gotten darker and more dramatic, but much less fun. Or the space movies that happened in the distant past in a galaxy not very close to ours. Same sort of thing. Sure, there were serious subjects like having a planet completely destroyed, but it was done in such a way as to not make it depressing. Much like a coyote falling off a cliff and making a coyote shaped hole in the ground.
Yes, these books are different. Your kids and grandkids can read them when you’re finished, and they might learn a few things along the way. And both you and they will enjoy them.
So here we are. I have books for you to read, and you need a smile. You buy the book, and you get the smile for free.
Mike
